1. Read v. 19. If we belong to God, yet the whole world is influenced by Satan, what does that tell us our lives here on this earth will be like much of the time?

The way to Heaven is ascending; we must be content to travel uphill,
though it be hard and tiresome, and contrary to the natural bias of our flesh.

One of the greatest assets in warfare is to have enemy intelligence. One of the major turning point in World War II was when America crack the code of the German Enigma Machine. This machine was used to coordinate submarine attacks on the Allies’ warships and supply ships in the Atlantic. Once we knew there was an enemy out there, he was set to destroy us, and we knew where he would be, the tides began to really turn in the war in the Atlantic.

3. Although the first two questions could be viewed as depressing, how do they actually serve us well and help us in our battle against Satan?

4. Read v. 20. Part of the answer to question 3 is that God has given us understanding. How can knowing and understanding Christ in a real and powerful way, help you battle against Satan everyday?

5. Make a list of some of the benefits of know God and trusting him.

6. If Satan is the enemy and is against everything God stand for, how can remembering God’s goodness be a great tool in battling against Satan’s schemes?

7. John 10:10 - “10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Write this passage in your own words and elaborate on how you see this principle in your own life.
